 The 29th edition of Iran's Fajr International Theater Festival has announced winners during a ceremony held in the capital city of Tehran.
Winners of the national and international competition sections were awarded at the Vahdat Hall on Sunday, February 20, 2011. The Grand Prize of the event went to Pandora 88, a duologue by German stage director Andrew Dawson. Other winners of this year's Fajr International Theater Festival are as follows:
International Section Festival Special Award Wonder of Creatures, Reza Servati (Iran) Best Director Award Claudia Sorace for (A+B)3, (Italy) Best Playwright Award Reza Gouran for Clouds behind Throat, (Iran) Best Actress Award Elina Reinold in Antigone, (Estonia) Best Actor Award Masoud Delkhah in Routine, (Iran) Best Music Composer Antonio Pizzicato for The Passion of the Trojan Women, (Italy) Best Stage Designer Siamak Ehsai for Letters to Thebes, (Iran) National Section Best Director Award Hossein Pakdel for Your Majesty Best Playwright Award Arash Abbasi for Lobby Best Actress Award Atefeh Razavi in Your Majesty Best Actor Award Parviz Fallahipour in Lobby Best Stage Designer Arvand Dasht-Aray for Let's Swing and Senora Carrar's Rifles Veteran Iranian stage artists Mohammad-Ali Keshavarz, Farideh Sepah-Mansour, Mahmoud Azizi and Yadollah Aqa-Abbasi were also honored with life time achievement awards during the festival's closing ceremony. The 2011 Fajr International Theater Festival was held from February 12 to 20 in Tehran, presenting some 153 performances from Iran and other countries. Some 14 international groups from Italy, the Czech Republic, Russia, Switzerland, China, Germany, Canada, South Korea, Greece, Poland and Estonia participated in the week-long event. Some 24 street plays were performed this year as well as nine performances in the New Experiences section and 12 works in the Festivals' Festival section which presented selected works from previous editions of the festival. Iran holds the international Fajr film, theater, music and visual arts festivals every year to mark the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
